The ancient world was consumed by wars fought with powers capable of deciding the fate of cities and kingdoms. According to surviving traditions, the scholar who became known as Thane, Talvara’s Guardian chose a terrible answer.
Through a network of structures now called Anchors, the Veil turned the flow of Aether away from Talvara. Magic faded. Ancient powers fell. The wars ended.
Peace followed, but never without cost. Disease, mortality, and generations of life without Aether became part of the world Thane left behind.
Whether the Veil was salvation, theft, or both remains one of Talvara’s oldest arguments.
