Before he became Talvara’s Guardian, Thane was a scholar of Aether. Ancient accounts credit him with recognizing that Aether moved through creation in vast currents rather than simply existing within the world.
As wars among Aether-wielding powers consumed civilizations, Thane devoted his life to an impossible solution: turn those currents away from Talvara itself. The result became the Veil.
For generations the Veil held, and Thane passed from history into legend. Orenth remembers his sacrifice. Other traditions ask whether any one person had the right to decide what an entire world must surrender.
Then came the Shattering. Thane fell, the Veil broke, and the argument over his legacy began again.
A gift without restraint does not become less a gift. It becomes a test.
