The Elyrian Wound

Elyra did not vanish from history. It was broken into it.

A City Between Powers

As Orenth and Caelora struggled over security, influence, and access to Aetheric research, Elyra tried to preserve its neutrality. Troops moved. Roads closed. Aether was used in battle. The region’s already dangerous magical conditions worsened.

The Catastrophe

Then the Confluence beneath Elyra failed catastrophically. Fissures tore across the region along unseen paths. Stone crystallized. The river changed. Buildings collapsed or were transformed. Entire parts of the city disappeared beneath a landscape that no longer obeyed familiar rules.

The exact cause remains disputed. Orenthian, Caeloran, Elyrian, religious, and scholarly accounts have blamed weapons, reckless research, wartime Aether use, divine judgment, and forces still poorly understood.

What Remains

The Wound is not a ruin built where Elyra once stood. The Wound is Elyra. Old roads still lead to broken neighborhoods. Fragments of markets, temples, homes, research stations, and bridges remain where people once lived ordinary lives.

Somewhere within the transformed region, pieces of Elyra’s last hours still wait to be understood.

“They still believe the danger is each other.”
