They are sometimes called Aether-Touched. When that connection manifests, they become known as the Awakened.
For some, Awakening comes quietly. For others, it happens in the worst moment of their lives, before witnesses who know exactly how forbidden magic is.
Orenth fears what uncontrolled power once did to the world. Caelora insists no individual should stand above the people. The Awakened are caught between both arguments - and whatever the Aether wants from them.
